FC Barcelona have already travelled to Paris for their UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. The Blaugranes have qualified for the last 8 after almost 4 years and under Xavi, they have been brilliant in La Liga, the defending Spanish champions will be looking for some magic on Wednesday night. Barca have struggled with form in the current season in the domestic leagues, they are 8 points behind league leaders Real Madrid and have a very slim chance of catching them.
Xavi who has already announced his departure from the club after the end of the season, will look to finish on a high note in the UCL knockouts and win the final for the side as well. Ahead of the game on Wednesday midfielder Oriol Romeu has spoken out on his season at the club and whether he will stay after the end of the current season.
The Spanish midfielder was brought back to the club but he has failed to have a good season so far. He has slipped down the pecking order. The 32-year-old midfielder believes that the season for him has been tough and he himself is not sure if he will continue at Barca or not. There have already been rumours that Romeu may return to Girona, and the midfielder is aware that he has not performed well enough this season to justify a starting berth.
Oriol Romeu not happy at Barca?
Romeu said, "There have been moments in which I have had a bad time, like when I don’t enjoy playing. It has happened to me sometime this year. I want to finish this season with good feelings. If I feel that next season I can enjoy playing here, I will go all out. But I will have to be honest with myself."
Barcelona is expected to look for a new midfield pivot this summer, which might lead to Romeu leaving again. The Spanish Giants need to find a replacement for Xavi or convince him to stay at the club for a couple of more years by bringing in some good signings in the summer. However, they have a financial crisis and might look for free players for the upcoming season.
