The four Women’s football quarter-finals concluded today and now only four teams remain in the race to win the medals for their respective countries. With less than a week remaining for the medal fixtures in the competition at the Paris Olympics 2024, teams would need to give it their all to earn the pride of collecting the medal at the biggest stage of them all.
Trinity Rodman decided to handle things on her own. And as a result, at the age of 22, she has already become a hero for the USA women's national soccer team. In the second and last minute of stoppage time in the opening half of extra time on Saturday, Rodman broke the scoreless deadlock versus Japan at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
In perhaps the most dramatic of ways, the USA advanced to the semifinal with their 1-0 victory thanks to her goal, a left-footed, looping masterpiece to the far post. Rodman was taken down by a tackle from defender Emily Fox.
What are the two semi-final fixtures at the Paris Olympics 2024?
USA got the quarter-final stage of the Women’s football competition underway earlier today and they earned a 1-0 win over Japan to qualify. In the second quarter-final of the day, Spain were able to force a magnificent comeback against Colombia with two late goals in the second half. They went on to win the tie 4-2 on penalties and keep their hopes of a medal in this competition alive.
The third quarter-final was kind of a boring one despite the number of good players on the pitch. Germany and Canada played out a stalemate but Germany were able to advance to the final four with a 4-2 triumph on penalties. In the final quarter-final of the day, hosts France were knocked out by Brazil but it was their own fault as they missed a penalty in the first half and that was the best chance they had throughout the game.
