Ruben Amorim expressed optimism about Manchester United's development, acknowledging that while there is still much work ahead, progress is being made.
During a press conference ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton, Amorim shared insights about both the strengths and areas for growth within the team. He emphasized on the promising aspects of training, noting that there are moments when improvement may be less noticeable, but there are also clear signs of the team’s potential and capability.
Ruben Amorim's house of problems
He asserted that, at this moment, as he watches the games, it’s evident there are more problems than solutions. He believes this is clear, yet he also sensed that when the team plays certain games, their potential shines through. However, for success, consistency is non-negotiable, that’s the key.
He believes that training is of utmost importance, and he is witnessing some improvements and relationship-building within the team. The players are bonding and grasping their desired style of play. The atmosphere during training has notably changed; the sounds are distinct, and players are actively communicating and providing instructions.
"What I feel is that sometimes I don't feel improvement in the team and then we have some games when it is more difficult, but you feel that we can play, we can create situations," Amorim told reporters.
"That is a good thing. But I think in this moment, when you watch the games, you can see there are more problems than solutions. I think that is clear, but I think, when we play some games, that things are there and we are capable. But we have to be consistent and that’s it," he added.
Since taking charge in November, Amorim has secured an equal number of wins and losses out of 21 matches. Although, the squad has achieved four Premier League victories in 14 attempts, they are in the process of adapting to a distinctive tactical approach that Amorim is implementing.
The Red Devils find themselves in a precarious 15th place in the Premier League and are on the brink of their worst league finish since being relegated in 1974. Their main goal is to avoid relegation this season.
