Having not featured for the national side since a severe knee injury sustained against Uruguay in October 2023, Neymar's comeback is noteworthy. Since rejoining the Brazilian league in January, the 33-year-old has showcased his talent, netting three goals and contributing three assists in just seven appearances for his boyhood club, Santos FC.

"There's no need to talk about what Neymar represents; he is currently recovering his form; we understand and are aware of this. But we believe his abilities and qualities allow him to be in a condition to overcome any situation on the field. He is a player whose teammates themselves publicly expressed what he represents to the group." Dorival said.

The Brazilian head coach emphasized that the team eagerly anticipates his return. He expressed his hope that Neymar would be genuinely happy upon coming back. He expects Neymar to have the confidence needed for him to develop to his fullest potential while maintaining realistic expectations.

Brazil is in the midst of a critical moment in their World Cup qualifying campaign, currently positioned fifth in the South American standings after 12 matches. The Selecao will take on Colombia in Brasilia on March 20, a must-win match that will set the stage for their highly anticipated showdown against the reigning world champions, Argentina, in Buenos Aires on March 25.
