In an interview with CNN, Portuguesa president Alex Bourgeois expressed the club's intention to attract a prominent Portuguese player for the 2026 Paulistão.

Bourgeois acknowledged that Cristiano Ronaldo is not only the greatest Portuguese player of all time but also a global icon. While he recognizes the immense competition for Ronaldo's attention, he believes it's clear that Ronaldo embodies the essence of Portuguese talent. Alex is optimistic that at some point, they will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with him.

"He's the greatest Portuguese of all time, he's the greatest personality in the world today. It would be great, but I can imagine how many people don't offer anything related to Portugal to Cristiano Ronaldo, right? But it's obvious that he's a great Portuguese, and obviously, at some point, we're going to have to try to talk." Alex said.

The 40-year-old attacker is nearing the end of his contract with Al-Nassr and has the opportunity to negotiate a pre-contract with potential suitors. Interestingly, recent reports indicate that Ronaldo may choose to extend his stay with the Saudi giants by signing a new deal. If finalized, this contract could see him earn €183 million annually.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star has been excluded from Al-Nassr's travelling squad to Iran for their match against Esteghlal in the AFC Champions League. Consequently, Ronaldo will make his return to the field on March 7, when his club faces Al-Shabab in SPL.
