Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim addressed the absence of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the squad for Sunday's Manchester derby, providing some insights into his decision-making process.
While the omission of both forwards from the 20-man matchday squad raised some questions, Amorim clarified that there were no disciplinary concerns involved. Ultimately, his strategy paid off, as United secured a thrilling 2-1 victory with a late double.
Rashford played in Thursday's Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen, where Garnacho featured as a late substitute. However, instead of participating in the Manchester derby, both players were seen training at the team's training ground that morning.

Amorim's take on sidelining Rashford and Garnacho
When asked about his decision following the match at the Etihad, Amorim made it clear that his choice was not related to any disciplinary issues. However, he emphasized the high standards he expects at Old Trafford. Amorim confidently stated that he would be transparent if any disciplinary problems arose with his players.
"Next week, next game, new life and they are fighting for the places," he said
"For me what is important is the performance in training, the performance in game, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with teammates and push teammates." Amorim said.
"Everything is important in our context, the beginning of something when we want to change a lot of things, when people in our club are losing their jobs. We have to put our standards really high, and for that they have to fight for their place in their team," Amorim added.
