The manager of Spain, Luis de La Fuente, has disclosed that Dani Olmo took a serious knock during La Roja's most recent match against Serbia, which is quite worrying news for FC Barcelona.

Two out of the four FC Barcelona players in the starting lineup for the UEFA Nations League match against Serbia previously this week in Belgrade were Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal. After signing a contract with FC Barcelona over the summer, the 26-year-old played just over 80 minutes that evening before giving way to Joselu.

It had been suggested prior to Spain's match against Switzerland tomorrow that Olmo will start as the team's ninth player, with Pedri coming in below him as an attacking midfielder. De La Fuente, however, has given worrying news on the former RB Leipzig player, claiming that he will miss the first portion of training today due to a serious knock he sustained earlier in the week against Serbia.

The Spain manager said, “Dani Olmo will not train at the start of the training session. He received a heavy knock in the match and we don’t know how he’s going to feel between now and tomorrow,”

A short while ago, there were speculations that Barcelona was worried about their players' workload because of the international games and the possibility of contracting the "FIFA virus." After losing Fermin Lopez to an injury earlier this week while travelling alongside the Spanish Under-21 national team, Olmo has now taken a knock for the Catalans. It is unclear how serious the problem is at this point.

Even though Lamine Yamal had taken a knock in the match against Real Valladolid, De La Fuente's choice to start the young player against Serbia had already infuriated some Barcelona supporters.

Regarding the worries expressed by the club and supporters regarding the 17-year-old's playing time, the La Roja manager added that, “It’s fortunate that they have a player of that level and that he plays so many games in the national team.”
