Salah signs a new contract with Liverpool

Salah provided an explanation for his decision to sign a contract extension with Liverpool. He stated that the club management has successfully built a competitive team that has the potential to secure multiple trophies in the upcoming seasons.

"Of course I'm very excited - we have a great team now, before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football." Salah said.

"I have played eight years here, hopefully it's going to be 10. I'm enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here." Salah added.

Salah was one of the three important players who were speculated to leave the club in June. However, both the club and the player reached common ground to sign a short-term contract. Liverpool has extended Mohammad Salah's contract till 2028. It is reported that Salah's new contract is free from any pay cut and he will continue to be one of the highest-paid Premier League players.

Earlier, tension rose in Liverpool's camp and fan base when Salah openly announced 2024-25 to be his 'last season' for Liverpool. He also revealed that the club didn't place any offer on the table and that he was 'more out than in'

The club's manager, Arne Slot, too, welcomed Salah's decision and spoke highly of the Egyptian's quality and mental strength.

"First of all, he has always been judged as a player, but I also see him as a human being, and he is a humble person. He always wants to work hard and always puts a lot of effort into becoming the player he has become. He wants to stay at that level, so he just keeps on making that effort every single day. What makes him special on the pitch, in my opinion, is that he can score goals." Slot said.
