The Egyptian maestro secured 90 per cent of the votes to win the award, marking the highest percentage achieved by any player this century, surpassing legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Wayne Rooney.

This season, Salah has netted 33 goals and assisted 23 times across all competitions, including 28 goals in the Premier League alone.

Salah's exploits helped Arne Slot's Liverpool bag their 20th Premier League title this season. Mo Salah previously won this award on two occasions in 2017-18 and 2021-22. He equalled Thierry Henry's record of winning it three times this season.

Salah's club teammate, Virgil van Dijk, was his nearest rival, securing second place in the voting. Following the Dutch defender was Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who has netted 26 goals across all competitions this season. Isak played a crucial role in ending the Magpies' 56-year trophy drought by scoring in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

The other footballers who made it to the list were Declan Rice, Bruno Fernandes, Chris Wood, Alexis Mac Allister, Morgan Gibbs White, Ryan Gravenberch, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jacob Murphy, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Murillo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

"Rarely has there been a more popular winner than Mo. His overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season. He continues to rewrite the record books, and his performances this season have obviously been key to Liverpool's 20th title. It's been a privilege watching him this season, and it will be a privilege to welcome him to our dinner to celebrate his success," said FWA chairman Cross.
