Man United's Matthijs de Ligt has expressed his desire for Erik ten Hag to continue as the manager of the Premier League club for an extended period. The team's performance in the beginning of the 2024/25 season has been disappointing, with Man United currently positioned 14th in the Premier League table and failing to secure a win in their two Europa League matches.

De Ligt wants Ten Hag to have a Prolonged Stay

Erik ten Hag's team will visit Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon aware that another loss could lead to a change in coaching staff upon their return from international duty.

Prior to the match at Villa Park, Manchester United's summer acquisition, De Ligt, expressed his desire for the Dutch manager to continue at the club, emphasizing that he has never had a manager oversee his career for longer than one and a half seasons.

“In my career, I’ve never had a manager for longer than one and a half seasons,” the centre-back told Sky Sports via Fabrizio Romano.

“So this is something that I hope I can have now that I have a trainer or a manager who stays longer with me as a player.”

De Ligt yet to reach his full Potential

Since gaining attention for his performances with Ajax, De Ligt's career trajectory has not matched initial expectations, having been sidelined by both Juventus and Bayern Munich after leaving the Netherlands in 2019.

The 25-year-old recently made a move to Manchester United from the Bundesliga club in a €50m deal but has faced challenges adapting to the demands of the Premier League.

The frequent changes in coaching staff may have impacted De Ligt's development, and it remains to be seen how his career at Manchester United under Ten Hag will unfold.
