Ruben Amorim is presented with injury concerns, as Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer are currently sidelined due to injuries sustained in training this week. The Manchester United head coach acknowledged that his squad has faced some medical setbacks during their training sessions at Carrington, particularly his starting midfielders.
Mainoo set to be out for weeks
Mainoo's injury will sideline him for more than a couple of weeks, and Ugarte and Collyer are also doubtful for the upcoming trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
In response, Jack Moorhouse, 19, has been called up for first-team training and will travel to London. If Amorim selects him, this will mark Moorhouse’s debut in a senior squad. The central midfielder is a powerful ball carrier and has already netted three goals in seven Premier League 2 matches this season for United's under-21s.
"Was a good week until two days ago, we had some problems. We don’t have players back, maybe we have one or two issues, we are waiting. We have one player who is sick, we will see on the weekend.” Amorim said.
Mainoo and Ugarte have proven to be key players in Amorim's lineup, having been reliable in midfield during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield. Meanwhile, Collyer has emerged as a valuable addition to the squad, drawing two starts and four substitute appearances in recent weeks.
The absence of the trio will undoubtedly open the door for Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to reclaim their places in the lineup. Together, they have only logged a mere 176 minutes of play since their last joint appearance.
Players such as Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, and Mason Mount are currently striving to regain their fitness following spells away from the team. Amorim was specifically inquired about Chido Obi Martin, the 17-year-old. The youngster scored a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup.
