Mason Mount faces injury at derby
Mason Mount encountered another setback in the Manchester derby, leaving the field just 12 minutes into the match. Since joining Manchester United from Chelsea, he has faced a series of injury challenges. However, it's worth commending that he had successfully participated in three of the team's last four Premier League games.
Mason Mount faces another injury and limps off the pitch
Mount was included in Ruben Amorim's starting line-up against Manchester City on Sunday but lasted just over 10 minutes before he was seen on the turf, visibly upset. Mount was clearly on the verge of tears as he made his way off the field, replaced by Kobbie Mainoo, after receiving some consolation from Bruno Fernandes.
"It's not good losing a player 12 minutes into a match but for Mason Mount, he's got that resigned look on his face of a player that has been in the gym rehabilitating enough. It's demoralising and you feel like you are letting everybody down," said SkySports Commentator Gary Neville
"The look on Mason Mount's face says it all. He's pretty gutted. It's exactly what he didn't want," he said.
"He was given the opportunity by Ruben Amorim and would have wanted a run of games. It's frustrating for him. Almost all of the Manchester United players went to him and hugged him. They are all disappointed." said BBC broadcaster Osman
Mount has not successfully completed a full 90 minutes in a Premier League match since January 2023, when Chelsea faced Crystal Palace.
Manchester United fans are now poised to learn the specifics of Mount's most recent injury and the duration of his absence. In the meantime, the Red Devils will gear up for their next challenge on Thursday, facing Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
