On Tuesday, reports surfaced indicating that Ruben Amorim accidentally damaged a TV screen in Manchester United’s dressing room following a heated outburst directed at his players after their 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday. The Portuguese manager is believed to have lost his temper during a post-match inquest at Old Trafford, resulting in the damage.
Ruben Amorim allegedly inflicted self harm
Recently, images have surfaced suggesting that the reports about the United boss could be accurate. Fans on social media have shared clips showing him with a noticeable cut on his right index finger. Interestingly, this cut was not observed on Amorim's hand before the match or during the game, leading to some speculation that it may have occurred during his post-match address in the dressing room.
Following the match, United’s players were struck by Amorim's visibly sad and deflated demeanour after suffering his seventh defeat in 15 games, marking a significant low since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in November.
While the players continue to support Amorim, there is growing concern that he may be losing the energy needed to revitalize United’s season. The 39-year-old exited the dressing room to speak at his post-match press conference, where he acknowledged his team's dismal condition suggesting it is one of the most difficult periods in recent Manchester United history.
"It's unacceptable to lose so many games. For any Premier League club, so imagine Manchester United? The opponents are better than us in many details. I am just here to help my players, but we need to understand we are breaking all the bad records," Amorim said.
"In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. Imagine what this is for a United fan. Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that," he added.
'Everybody was changing position and that is something I will not see again. We can lose but we have to maintain position,' he said.
United is currently facing difficulties at home ground, having lost six of their 12 league games, marking a historic low for the club over the past 131 years. With four losses in their last five outings at Old Trafford, Manchester United is in all sorts of things.
