The report of the infestation emerged less than a month after fans discovered a dead rat beneath one of the seats during a Europa League match at Old Trafford. According to the report, inspectors identified evidence of mice in a corporate suite as well as in a kiosk that serves food to fans.

Manchester United has historically faced challenges with pest infestations, attributed to Old Trafford's location between a canal and a railway line. Additionally, the cold winter weather is believed to have worsened the issue. According to reports, pest control professionals are visiting the club as frequently as five times a week to address the problem.

The Red Devils are working to address their recent challenges in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim's team is focused on bouncing back from their two-game losing streak with a victory against the struggling Wolves on December 26.They recently suffered heartbreaks against Bournemouth, losing 3-0 in the Premier League and against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.
