Manchester United have had a poor season in the English Premier League. The Red Devils, despite winning the FA Cup against arch-rivals Manchester City, finished 8th in the PL league table. According to the reports, despite winning the tournament's final after having a long review about Erik ten Hag, the club decided not to continue with the Dutch coach in the upcoming season. They lost 14 games in the 2023/24 season which was the most by the club in a single season.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, head of football operations, decided that there would be a lot of re-shuffling in the squad ahead of the next season, with some big names to be included in the transfer market for sale. However, they are yet to finalise a coach, there have been some names that have been shortlisted by the club, with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Xavi.
As the recent talks come up again, the former FC Barcelona have held talks with the club, but the talks have been informal and nothing has been finalised yet, with the Spanish manager who was linked with the club in January when he announced his departure from the Catalonian club.
Xavi or Pochettino; Who is suited best for United?
Barcelona then agreed in terms with the Spaniard to stay for further seasons, despite this there was controversy when Joan Laporta thought of sacking the manager. Amidst all the chaos, the 44-year-old manager has no intention of managing a club at the moment and taking a break for some time.
The final decision will be much more important as for the last few years United have failed to perform consistently losing out their positions at the league table and moving down. Tuchel is also in consideration as the Bayern Munich coach left the club after the end of the season and he has been experience in England previously. Pochettino's profile is liked most by the management as the Argentine manager's tactics and vision are loved by the club.
