After Erik ten Hag was fired, Manchester United formally stated that Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon will soon take over as head coach. The match against Ipswich Town is scheduled to be the Portuguese tactician's debut game as manager of the team when he arrives on November 11.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had been put in temporary command after the former Ajax coach left, will continue to command the troops until then. The former United attacker got off to a spectacular start as his Red Devils team crushed Leicester City 5-2 in order to set up a tantalizing quarterfinal matchup with Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

In contrast to Ten Hag's strict style, the players performed with a great deal of flexibility and were allowed to express themselves. INEOS hopes that this will continue in the upcoming games until Amorim arrives. It was initially anticipated that the former Netherlands striker would leave the team after the Portuguese tactician arrived, but he reaffirmed his intention to stay and support the new boss following the match against the Foxes.

The Sporting Lisbon boss is eager to retain some of his current coaches on his staff list because he wants to gain inside understanding of the team and how it used to operate, even if he will be sending three of them to Manchester.

Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay at Manchester United

According to The Sun, the United players want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay. The United team believes the 48-year-old knows what it's like playing for this big club and that he will be simpler to talk to than the former manager.

A source told the media publication that, “The players all really really want Ruud to stay on and have made their feelings clear internally that they believe he should remain at the club, even if and when Amorim takes over as boss. To a man, they all like him and get on with him and they also respect him because they know he understands what it’s like to play for United and the pressures that come with it. They are hopeful that he stays involved in the setup.”
