According to Gianluca di Marzio, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is poised to quit Old Trafford this summer. Ten Hag's future at United was previously unknown, and Di Marzio recently spoke with SoccerNews.NL regarding the Dutchman's future, claiming that he will leave the club this summer.

In addition, the Red Devils have looked at potential candidates for the former Ajax manager. Di Marzio identified three candidates: Kieran McKenna, Roberto de Zerbi, and Mauricio Pochettino. McKenna may join Chelsea, which would make Pochettino a strong contender to take over the Old Trafford job.

Throughout the transfer period in the summer, United spent about £200 million on players such as Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana. However, the Red Devils have fallen farther behind the teams contending for the Premier League crown and are certain of losing out on UEFA Champions League.

According to reports, United made a decision on Ten Hag some time ago and has already contacted McKenna. However, the former United assistant manager is a popular name around Europe, and Brighton is also interested in him as a successor for De Zerbi. Chelsea's primary prospects are McKenna and Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca. For United, the choice on Ten Hag has already been made, and winning the FA Cup final would not change that. It appears that a managerial domino effect might break out in England, involving two Italian managers.

Who will replace Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United if he is sacked?

De Zerbi and Pochettino both recently departed their positions at Brighton and Chelsea. Pochettino, in particular, has been connected with the United position in prior years and was a strong possibility to succeed Jose Mourinho after his dismissal, allowing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become appointed manager.

In addition to the head coaches, it is predicted that up to 11 players will leave United during the summer. According to reports from earlier this year, the only three players that would not be considered for transfer are Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund.
