Ederson set to miss final of FA Cup against Manchester United after fracture in eye

Manchester City are currently the favourites to win the English Premier League. The Sky Blues needs to win their final game in order to become the champions of England once again. They are in the verge of making history as no club previously have won the EPL four consecutive times. Pep Guardiola's side have the chance to win the double as they are in the final of the FA Cup and will face city rivals Manchester United in the final. 

However ahead of the important clash on 25th May the club have faced a serious backlash, with their regular goalkeeper Ederson will be missing the game on Sunday, and he will also miss the final game against West Ham United at home. He has suffered a fractured eye socket. The Brazilian shot-stopper collided with Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero, and was substituted soon. The keeper was unhappy with being taken off, and kicked out the bench out of frustration. 

After the game he underwent scans of the affected area that have revealed a small fracture to the right eye socket. However City's second keeper Stefan Ortega gave valuable additions in the back during the absence of the 1st choice keeper when Ederson was out injured previously. In the game against Spurs after coming on he made a decisive 1 on 1 save against Son Heung-min, keeping the score 1-0 and soon the visitors converted from the penalty. 

Will Ortega handle the pressure on final EPL day?

City said in their statement, "The injury will prevent Ederson from playing any further part in the remaining games of the 2023-24 season." With Copa America in almost a month time and he has been named in the squad for Brazil as well. It will be interesting to see whether he can participate in the South America tournament. 

Ortega will be under huge pressure on 19th against West Ham at home as City's title factor will be decided on winning the game and the keeper needs to once again step up in the big game for the club.
