Despite Manchester United's interest, sources suggest that Arsenal may end up signing England striker Ivan Toney, a forward for Brentford, on a free transfer. The Gunners have already made a move in the summer window, as they are almost certain to pay approximately £42 million to sign Italy's Riccardo Calafiori, a defender for Bologna.

Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are reportedly being considered by Manchester United as possible striker possibilities. The summer window for the Red Devils has now begun in earnest. Man Utd is very close to bringing in Matthijs de Ligt and is just one step closer to signing Joshua Zirkzee.

Furthermore, Erik ten Hag and co hope to bolster their midfield by bringing in Manuel Ugarte. Jarrad Branthwaite, a former top target, is still a possibility as well, as Manchester United has made a lowball bid to sign the Everton player.

Even if they are successful in spending this €200 million on each of these four players, their summer shopping might not be finished yet. The Athletic claims that there's a good chance Manchester United will recruit a striker in addition to Zirkzee.

How much will Manchester United might have to pay for Ivan Toney?

Although the Dutchman is not the most prolific center-forward, Manchester United feel that there continues to be room in the team for a more conventional, Premier League-tested number nine because of his range of abilities and special skill set, which frequently sees him play a bit like an elegant No. 10 instead of a 193cm (6ft 4in) target man.

Toney's transfer fee is anticipated to be no more than €50 million, even if Brentford will first want more than €60 million for the England star. Conversely, Calvert-Lewin might be had for as low as €40 million. Nevertheless, if Man Utd wants to recruit both of them in along with De Ligt, Zirkzee, and possibly Ugarte and Branthwaite, they must begin to raise some money through sales.
