Liam Delap to Manchester United

Both Manchester United as well as Chelsea have high regard for Liam Delap, but any attempt to sign the prolific Ipswich striker might be thwarted by Manchester City. Delap has led the Tractor Boys' battle to stay in the Premier League and scored six goals over 13 games, making him one of the season's highlights. It should come as no surprise that the big boys are taking notice of his play, and a possible move is anticipated next summer.

Scouts from many elite teams have reportedly seen Delap this season, notably during last weekend's 1-1 draw with United, according to The Athletic. The Manchester City academy product is 21 years old and likely has more in store.

According to The Athletic, if Delap, the son of former Stoke City great Rory, keeps up his good play, it is now anticipated that he would sign with one of the "Big Six" teams. The England Under-21 talent is admired by both Manchester United and Chelsea, but City may thwart any attempts to recruit him.

In the majority of its sales, Manchester City includes buy-back or matching rights provisions. Nevertheless, Delap is unlikely to find the idea of competing alongside Erling Haaland seeking a spot in the starting lineup appealing. Delap will be eager to continue his scoring ways when Kieran McKenna's team, who are undefeated in three Premier League games, visits Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Liam Delap set to compete with Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United

When Delap played at Portman Road, wherein United was held to a 1-1 draw, Ruben Amorim had a close-up look at him. Despite playing just 17 touches versus United, the Winchester-born star almost scored twice with two shots on goal; just Marcus Rashford (13) scored less.

As Rasmus Hojlund continues to excel under Amorim, rumors of interest in Delap have begun to circulate. United defeated Bodo/Glimt of Norway 3-2 on Thursday to secure their second victory in the Europa League season, with the Dane scoring two goals and providing an assist.
