The Daily Mail claims that Manchester United is willing to lose money on one of their high-profile acquisitions come summertime. The acquisition of Antony from Ajax was one of the Red Devils' bad transfer choices under the Glazers. The Brazilian scored three goals during as many games after joining United for an incredible £85 million in 2022. But in his subsequent 83 games in all competitions, he has only managed nine more goals.

The increased intensity of the Premier League has been difficult for Antony to handle. His playing has been shown to be one-dimensional. The 24-year-old typically prefers to use his left foot to cut underneath from the right wing. With his inferior right foot, he has hardly produced any opportunities.

The Sao Paulo graduate may be heading out the door at the start of the new year since he is currently an underutilized reserve at the Premier League team. In the upcoming transfer window, United is willing to lend him out. The team thinks a string of strong performances would spur bids. Next summer, the hierarchy is prepared to part with him for about £40 million, which would be a significant loss of £45 million upon the transfer fee that was paid to Ajax.

Antony set to go off on loan in January

Although Antony had a bright start to his Manchester United career, it is obvious that he is unable to handle the Premier League's heightened pressure and intensity. His luck might alter if he relocates. Given that Serie A matches are less intense and more tactical, the Brazilian might perform well there.

His transfer price is currently quite low as according to Transfermarkt, he is only worth £17 million, and Manchester United is unlikely to approve his sale during the transfer window that begins in January. For the short term, a loan is the best choice. The club's chances of recovering £40 million for Antony's sale next summer could increase if he makes a significant impact.
