On Sunday, Erik ten Hag traveled back to his boyhood team Twente to watch them compete in the Eredivisie against his old squad, Ajax. The former Manchester United manager was seen at De Grolsch Veste on Sunday as his boyhood team, FC Twente, faced his old team, Ajax, during a Dutch Eredivisie match.
Since leaving Old Trafford last month, he has gone to two live matches in the Netherlands. The Dutch head coach was seen last week at Erve Asito Stadium, where he watched Heracles Almelo defeat NAC Breda 2-0.
In the last week of October, the 54-year-old had been allowed to go after Manchester United lost to West Ham United in what was their fourth loss of the 2024–25 season. After saving himself by lifting the FA Cup in May, Ten Hag left the Premier League squad since he was unable to help his team in the first few games of the current campaign.
Ten Hag was fired after three months of signing a new contract with the club that prolonged his tenure to 2026, and he was compensated with a staggering £17 million (€20 million). But even though he received fair compensation, he was allegedly upset when he was requested to leave.
Ruben Amorim set to manage Manchester United after International Break
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim was named United's next head coach within a few days of Ten Hag's dismissal, and he will officially take over the team on Monday. However, his debut game as manager will be against Ipswich Town on November 24 following the international break.
When Ruud van Nistelrooy temporarily took over at Old Trafford, Manchester United had improved, bringing out the best in a number of players, most notably Bruno Fernandes. A new era at Manchester United is about to commence with the appointment of Ruben Amorim as manager. The English Premier League giants would want him to have an instant impact on the team so that the side can have success this season.
