Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Napoli and Manchester United are nearing a deal for Scott McTominay, but Sky Sport Italia claims that the Partenopei would prefer to acquire Billy Gilmour from Brighton. Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, is in the market for an extra central midfield player. Sky reports that the Partenopei may eventually add two more midfielders.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Gilmour's transfer to Napoli is nearing completion, yet on Saturday, the Scotland international made his debut for the Seagulls versus Manchester United. The Scotland international's transfer to Napoli has reportedly been delayed, as reported by Corriere dello Sport. This is likely due to the 23-year-old's lack of participation in preseason games.

Napoli still intends to have Gilmour undergo medical testing next week, according to Fabrizio Romano, although McTominay has now taken precedence over Gilmour, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Rome-based publication asserts that the Partenopei and Manchester United, together along with the Scottish midfielder who had been brought on during yesterday's second half match against Brighton & Hove Albion, are nearing a deal. Sky reports that Manchester United is seeking €35 million for McTominay, while Corriere dello Sport claims that Napoli is offering roughly €30 million.

Manchester United reportedly not interested in signing Sofiyan Amrabat again

After Amrabat lifted the FA Cup in his year-long loan at United this past season, a permanent move was predicted in quarters this summer. Amrabat's desire to leave Fiorentina is well known, and the Italian press has frequently reported that he wants to go back to Old Trafford.

Amrabat is aware that United won't be able to sign him since he did not perform incredibly well while he was a member of the team. According to Sport Witness, the Corriere dello Sport article from Sunday states that United "will not satisfy" Fiorentina's demands for Amrabat. The Serie A team reportedly wants to pay the Morocco international €15 million, which is a huge ask for a player whose contract expires in 12 months.
