Brighton & Hove Albion's early siege paid reward when Simon Adingra spotted an unguarded Pedro, who nodded in to give the Seagulls a second win of this season, just when it looked like the game might end in a tie. The top-ranked Brighton & Hove Albion team defeated Manchester United 2-1 on Saturday to maintain their spotless record in the Premier League.

New manager Fabian Huerzeler's home debut triumph came from a late goal by Joao Pedro in the fifth minute of extra time. The game appeared to be headed for a draw till the final minutes, when Brighton star Danny Welbeck netted the first goal against his old club. Amad Diallo then tied the score for Manchester United in the second half.

After two games, Huerzeler, 31, has guided the Seagulls over two wins to keep them at the top of the table. Post the win against Manchester United, goal-scorer Joao Pedro spoke to the media.

Pedro said, “First I’m very happy for the win. I think this goal at the end shows how much we wanted to win the game, first game at home against a big team. I cannot feel better than today. I think the team did well.”

How did the game between Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion?

Ten minutes into the match, Diogo Dalot passed the ball towards the far post, where Diallo attempted a volley but was unable to give United the lead. After Kaoru Mitoma got the ball on the left wing and crossed it into the six-yard box, where Welbeck stretched out a leg to rack up his second strike of the year, Brighton seized the lead.

Welbeck scored his sixth goal against United, the team he spent his formative years with and even captured the Premier League title with in 2012–13, marking his 100th goal in club football history.

Following a superb stop by goalkeeper Jason Steele, Marcus Rashford promptly answered at the other end with a goal, but his euphoria were short-lived as the linesman's flag popped up for offside. Shortly in the second half, Pedro set up James Milner for an effort that Dalot blocked, almost giving Brighton a two-goal advantage.
