This week, the Premier League came back to life with some thrilling matchups that had an impact on the overall standings. Premier League powerhouses Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea took to the field against their opponents, including Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth.
In terms of attack, Manchester City seemed to have regained their form. Phil Foden, who netted a hat-trick at this venue last season, scored twice in this match.
His first goal was in the 66th minute, set up by a superb assist from Kevin De Bruyne, while the second came in the 78th minute thanks to a fortunate rebound. Brentford attempted to make a comeback by scoring in the 83rd minute. Manchester City failed to maintain defensive composure and conceded yet another late goal in the dying minutes of the game as Odegaard equalised and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Chelsea's star, Cole Palmer opened the proceedings for the Blues with a delightful goal early in the first half. However, the team's defence failed to resonate the same levels of performance as Bournemouth netted two back-to-back goals in the 50th and 68th minute via Kluivert and Semenyo. However, Brentford bottled their lead as Chelsea's skipper, James, scored a brilliant free kick to draw the match to 2-2.
Liverpool Survive a Scare at City Ground
The hosts at City Ground seized control right from the start. Nottingham made their mark early in the match as the Kiwis striker Chris Wood hammered the ball into the far corner in the eighth minute.
However, Dalot ensured Liverpool made a comeback as he netted a goal in the 66th minute. Liverpool tried to steal a winner in the late minutes but Nottingham Forest ensured the Reds walked away with only one point. Liverpool now leads the standings with 47 points, six points clear of second-placed Nottingham Forest.
