Before Sporting manager Ruben Amorim joins City rivals Manchester United, Manchester City will learn how his squad performs. Manchester City and Sporting CP will square off in a crucial Champions League encounter at Estadio Jose Alvalade. Before his first United match against Ipswich Town on November 24, Amorim, 39, is scheduled to take over at Old Trafford on November 11. He still had to play his final home game as Sporting's manager, though, against Manchester City, United's fiercest rival.

After two unexpected league losses, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City hopes to turn things around. Despite recent injuries, City appears strong with players like Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland returning. The odds are also to City's advantage because of their winning streak in this competition. Phil Foden jumps on the ball when Sporting midfielder Morita mishandles possession, and the England international dances his way into the area from the left.

Then Phil Foden finds the gap between two defenders and shoots with his left foot beyond the goalkeeper. He deprived Sporting of possession in their half, and Foden responded with a strong strike. The ball flew to the goalkeeper's right, and he oddly ducked too much to his left.Β

Manchester City coming from two defeats

Sporting CP, who have matched City with seven points in their group campaign and are playing well in the Primeira Liga, is a formidable opponent, nevertheless. Despite starting as the underdog, Sporting can pull off a shock, which would have Pep Guardiola's team work extra hard to win.

Manchester City were defeated by AFC Bournemouth once more after losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup Round of 16. Their worries are exacerbated by the fact that City will miss Rodri, who recently won the Ballon d'Or, and Kevin De Bruyne, their two-star midfielders. Whether Pep Guardiola's tactical know-how can lead the Cityzens back to winning ways against a strong foe like Sporting Club Portugal will be interesting to see.
