Nottingham Forest, sat confidently in seventh place in the Premier League standings, had demonstrated fine form this season. Meanwhile, Manchester United were positioned in 13th place and did show signs of minor improvement.

The Tale of Manchester United's defeat at home

The away side got off to a blistering start at Old Trafford. Anderson delivered a precise cross into the near post area, and Serbian defender Milenkovic seized the opportunity, scoring a powerful header that left the home crowd in shock.

In the eighteenth minute, Manchester United responded with a goal. Garnacho made a quick run through the middle and attempted a shot on goal, which was expertly saved by Sels. However, Hojlund was quick to react to the rebound and slotted the ball home.

In a comedic turn of events, Fernandes relinquished possession in his half in the 47th minute, allowing the ball to reach Gibbs-White. His shot was directed straight at the United goalkeeper, who unexpectedly dived away, letting the ball slip into the goal.

Then, in the 52nd minute, Chris Wood, Nottingham Forest’s all-time leading goal-scorer and birthday boy, found the net on his special day.

Gibbs-White delivered a cross into the box, and Wood's looping header managed to elude both Onana and Martínez. Strangely, the Argentine centre-back stood at the far post, merely watching as the ball passed him by.

In the 62nd minute, the Red Devils' skipper took charge and aimed to bring his team back into the game. Amad excelled on the right flank, skillfully cutting the ball back to his captain just inside the box. Fernandes struck the ball, blasting it past Sel's goalkeeper and igniting a spark of hope for the hosts.

However, the Red Devils failed to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes and Nottingham Forest won the match by 3-2 scoreline.
