Real Madrid asserted dominance right from the start, taking the lead in the 14th minute. Rodrygo delivered a precise ball to Modric, who confidently headed it into the net to secure the first goal.

Just seven minutes later, Endrick made the run, entered the area, received the ball, and unleashed a threatening shot that found the back of the net for the second goal of the night. Leganes responded quickly with a goal from the spot in the 39th minute. The hosts then drew levels in the 59th minute, setting up a blockbuster result. The deadlock remained up until injury time, when Real Madrid's striker Garcia found the net on the last play of the fixture. Real Madrid won 3-2.

Newcastle stunned Arsenal in EFL Cup

In the second leg of the EFL Cup 2025 semifinals, Newcastle United showcased their determination by defeating Arsenal and securing a place in the finals of the tournament.

Entering the match with a 2-0 lead, the Magpies maintained their focus and intensity throughout the game. They not only relied on quick slick counterattacks but also saw more shots on target. The Magpies took a lead in the 19th minute as Jacob Murphy found the back of the net.

Arsenal’s defensive shortcomings reared their heads once again in the 52nd minute. Raya took an unnecessarily long time to distribute the ball with his feet, allowing Newcastle’s press to capitalise. Schar closed in on Rice, who, despite being under pressure, managed to win the challenge cleanly. He then set up Gordon for an easy finish past the Arsenal keeper. Newcastle defeated Arsenal 2-0 (4-0 on aggregate) to reach the finals of the EFL Cup.
