Jamie Carragher called Mo Salah ‘Selfish' for talking about his Liverpool contract predicament in public, and he has since responded. When Salah, 32, revealed this week that he hasn't received a new contract offer despite his current one expiring in June 2025, he irritated Carragher.

After netting two goals during the Reds' 3-2 victory against Southampton on the road last weekend and continuing his strong play with a goal and an assist in Sunday's thrilling 2-0 victory against Manchester City, which solidified Liverpool's hold on the top place in the Premier League, the Egyptian made these remarks.

Gary Neville, a Sky Sports announcer, named Salah Man of the Match for his efforts. As Sky's Patrick Davison presented the prize to him, teammate Virgil van Dijk joked, "I'm surprised that Carra didn't give it to you." Salah responded cheekily, saying: "No, he wouldn't. He wouldn't get it to me.

In a quick reply, Jamie Carragher said on X, "I would've give it to VVD to be fair!" The former Liverpool defender penned the tweet from the Sky studio at Anfield, where he also talked about Van Dijk's future, who is in a similar situation, and Salah's.

“I have no problem with Salah” : Jamie Carragher

After this hilarious dig from Mohamed Salah, all the eyes were on Jamie Carragher and how he would respond. He said, "I have no problem with Salah and Van Dijk. They are two of the greatest for Liverpool. Liverpool are a club run by data. I'm not saying he shouldn't get a two-year deal or give him big money.”

"He's on big money now. The club is not built on giving them what they want. That's where the success of the club has come from. They are ahead of the game. Buying Mo Salah for £40million when no-one else looked at him because they are ahead of the game. Liverpool, keep doing what you are doing. You move the dial for a Salah or Van Dijk."
