It appears that the long-standing concern among Liverpool supporters about Jurgen Klopp's successor may now be resolved. According to the most recent reports from Sky Germany, Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim and Liverpool have verbally agreed that Amorim will take over as head coach following Klopp's departure.

Amorim is reportedly aiming to sign a three-year contract that will continue to keep him at Anfield until 2027. Currently, he has a long-term agreement with Sporting that expires in 2026 with a £25 million release clause.

Along with talks about Liverpool, the 39-year-old has additionally been making waves throughout Europe. Teams like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and others have reportedly scouted Amorim as a possible manager for their own teams.

Sporting Lisbon now lead the Portuguese First Division by four points over rival Benfica, and Amorim is no pushover with a game remaining. In Amorim's first full season as manager, Sporting won the league, and the team has been competitive ever since.

Liverpool FC looked at signing former midfielder as future manager

Liverpool has been searching for additional managerial candidates; the most well-known candidate to be pursued was Xabi Alonso, a former footballer for both Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Alonso and Livepool have a long history together. From 2004 to 2009, the now-retired Spanish defensive maestro was a member of Liverpool. Before ultimately leaving for Los Blancos Real Madrid in 2009 for £32.5 million, he made 143 league games and scored 14 goals throughout that period.

However, his playing career wasn't the only thing that made him a viable substitute. Bayer Leverkusen has been playing flawlessly this season, setting a record, and they are just one victory away from winning the Bundesliga for the first time ever under Alonso's leadership.

However, Alonso's recent announcement that he would be sticking at Leverkusen in the foreseeable future—citing the BayArena as the "right place to grow as a coach"—put an end to any hopes that he might join the team.
