Chelsea has been one of the most incosistent side in the English Premier League (EPL) this season. The Blues despite winning a thriller game against Manchester United, however on Sunday they have again dropped points against bottom placed Sheffield United. Oli McBurnie scored a 93rd minute equaliser for the club who might be relegated next season. Mauricio Pochettino's side break the deadlock with Thiago Silva scoring the goal in the 11th minute of the game.
Jayden Bogle equalised in the 32nd minute of the game. In the second half, Noni Madueke gave back the lead to the Blues, but McBurnie came to the rescue for his side in the dying minutes of the game. The consistency of winning games has been a problem for the side and the outcome has been seen as they are currently 9th in the table. Pochettino said the packed schedule has been hampering the consistency of his players.
They are far behind from the qualification rounds of European championship next season. They are 16 points behind the top 5 race with one game in hand. Though it will be tough for the Blues to qualify for UEFA Champions League or Europa League either. They would need to re build their squad for the next season in order to perform well.
Pochettino not happy with EPL fixtures
Cole Palmer has been the star for Chelsea as the winger has scored 16 goals so far and is in the race for Premier League golden boot this season. He has been the highest scorer for the club as well. Palmer was the star against United, as the Englishman scored a brilliant hattrick at Stamford Bridge. They play Everton next in the league before playing Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on April 20.
The 52-year-old coach said, "Of course, they were tired but that is not an excuse today not to win the game at the end," Watching football, as a 52‑year‑old, you identify very quickly when a team is ready to compete or not. Maybe because this group is still not mature enough to compete every single game, every three days ... because like you say Sheffield is in the relegation zone."
