Diego Gomez, Lionel Messi's Inter Miami colleague, is apparently planning to join Brighton & Hove Albion. The MLS team is rumored to have accepted the Premier League team's bid. Inter Miami has accepted Brighton's bid of more than £10 million to acquire the Paraguay international, according to an article by football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. The player was apparently eager to transfer, so the MLS team initially rejected the offer before accepting it.

The Paraguayan player revealed his desire to become part of the Premier League team in an interview with Deporte Total USA a few weeks ago. He stated (via GOAL) that Brighton was in communication with the MLS team.

He said, "My agent is speaking to Inter Miami and Brighton & Hove Albion, I came here to make the jump to Europe. I hope it happens and whatever God wants. With the performance he had in the pre-olympics in Miami, his transfer is always a possibility. He (Diego) is a desirable player, but at this moment he is 100% in the Olympic games, to represent our country well, then we will see what to do with that."

What’s the update on the injury of Lionel Messi?

Messi left for international duty around mid-June, having spent the first few weeks into the 2024 MLS season as a top player for the Herons. He was ejected in tears from the Copa America 2024 final, although he did inspire Argentina to victory.

Although Lionel Messi did manage to grab the trophy, which is his 45th of an incredible career, he twisted his right ankle so badly that he has needed to wear a protective boot ever since he returned to Inter Miami. The 37-year-old is only allowed to watch Leagues Cup and MLS matches from a spectator position.

Luis Suarez, his teammate gave an update on his injury as he said, “Everyone knows how committed Leo is to this club, with his national team and his desire to be on the field. But as the days go by he is getting closer to his return to the field, which is where we all want to see him.”
