Spain became the first team to make it to the finals of the EURO 2024 tournament with their 2-1 win over France. Lamine Yamal became the youngest-ever goal scorer in the history of the tournament as his wonder strike sank the French hopes.

Just before the game, French mid-fielder Adrian Rabiot had taken a swipe at the young FC Barcelona star. The Juventus star had said Lamine Yamal would have to put in a special performance if his team had to go past the French side.

Lamine Yamal then took to his social media handle and posted a picture which read, “Move in silence only speak when it’s time to say checkmate”. The youngster also posted a picture of himself taking a shot at a goal that won Spain the chance to move to the final.

The Spanish team will now wait for the winners of the game between England and Netherlands in the second semi-finals. The two sides have shown patchy form till now and will be looking at the opportunity to stake their claim in the finals.

Kolo Muani Randal got France ahead when he put in a perfect header thanks to an accurate cross by Kylian Mbappe. The Spaniards though stepped up the gas and continued their relentless attack as they scored in the 21st minute thanks to a goal by Lamine Yamal.

Dani Olmo then put the game to bed when he scored in the 25th minute to make it 2-1. Despite earning waves of chances, the French side couldn’t make a comeback. When the final whistle went off the heartbreak was visible on the French player's face. Spain on the other hand was celebrating their hard-fought win.

England and the Netherlands are set to lock horns in the 2nd semi-finals. The English team had to battle it out hard against Switzerland in their game and ultimately won it on penalties. Netherlands on the other hand were clinical as they went past Turkey with a 2-1 margin to make it to the semi-finals.
