Due to injuries, Barcelona strikers Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal won't be playing for Poland and Spain, respectively, the La Liga team announced on Monday. Due to an injury to his right ankle, Lamine Yamal was unable to play in Barca's 1-0 La Liga loss against Real Sociedad on Sunday. The teenager is ruled out of Spain's Nations League matches against Denmark and Switzerland and might remain out for up to three weeks. Lewandowski, the leading scorer in La Liga, will be sidelined from Poland's Nations League games versus Portugal and Scotland for just under two weeks due to a back injury he sustained on Sunday.

FC Barcelona said in a statement that, "Tests performed on the morning of Monday 11 November have revealed that Lamine Yamal has a grade 1 sindesmosis injury in his right ankle. He is expected to be out of action for between two and three weeks. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski is having trouble in the lumbar region of his back, and will be rested for about ten days."

Real Madrid also suffer major injuries to key players

Real Madrid announced on Monday that they are going to be without attacker Rodrygo and defender Lucas Vazquez for the next few weeks because of leg injuries they suffered on Saturday. After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during the team's recent 4-0 La Liga victory over Osasuna, Brazilian defender Eder Militao will have surgery and lose several months of play for the second straight season, the club had previously revealed.

Alongside full back Dani Carvajal, the 26-year-old Militao becomes the second Real Madrid star to sustain an ACL injury this season. In the last 15 months, one of the team's players has had ten such injuries.

Thibaut Courtois, Aurelien Tchouameni, and David Alaba are among the important players on the team's long list of injured players. The only player projected to be fit for the eagerly awaited Champions League match against Liverpool over two weeks is goalkeeper Courtois.
