Lamine Yamal and Jude Bellingham become the most googled footballers in the UK: Reports

In 2024, Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Barcelona's teen sensation Lamine Yamal have emerged as two of the most searched athletes in the UK.

The rise of Yamal and Bellingham 

Bellingham has enjoyed a remarkable first full season at Santiago Bernabeu, helping Real Madrid secure both La Liga and the Champions League titles. Meanwhile, Yamal has solidified his position in Barcelona's starting lineup and contributed to Spain's success in winning Euro 2024 in Germany.

Interest in the duo has surged significantly, positioning both of them among the top five most Googled athletes in the UK. Yamal claims the second place, only behind darts sensation Luke Littler, while Bellingham holds the fourth place—trailing gymnast Simone Biles but surpassing Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.

On a global scale, Yamal has also secured a spot in the top three most Googled athletes. The leading position is held by Olympic boxer Imane Khelif, followed by boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Lamine Yamal achieved third place in the rankings, surpassing well-known athletes like Biles and Jake Paul. Despite only turning 17 in July, he is on a promising path toward stardom. His talent has drawn comparisons to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, and he was honoured as the world's best young player at the 2024 Ballon d'Or Awards.

Additionally, Yamal secured eighth place in the overall Ballon d'Or rankings, making history as the youngest candidate ever for the prestigious Golden Ball. Bellingham performed admirably as well, finishing third after Vinicius Jr. and the winner, Rodri.

The two players are determined to add more silverware this season. Barcelona and Real Madrid sit just two points apart at the top of the league table in Spain, and both teams are poised to make significant progress in the Champions League. Bellingham and Yamal are also strong contenders for the Ballon d'Or in 2025.
