According to reports, Barcelona is closing in on a 120 million euros deal that would, in theory, enabling the Catalans to sign Dani Olmo for the rest of the season. Olmo's return to his childhood club in the summer, spending 55 million euros, will be eleven years after leaving the academy to pursue first-team possibilities.
Due to La Liga's strict economic laws, Barcelona has been embroiled in a difficult financial scenario for the past few years. The deadline for that temporary solution was December 31st. In an attempt to give themselves more time to acquire the required cash, Barcelona frantically asked the city's commercial court to extend the deadline, but their plea was denied on Friday.
Due to the club's financial troubles, Dani Olmo has been entangled in La Liga registration problems ahead of the second half of the 2024–2025 season. The Barcelona midfielder could be able to go for free and sign with any team in January if the problem isn't resolved in the coming days.
Joan Laporta finds a way to sign Dani Olmo and Pau Victora
Barbastro of the fourth division, Barcelona's opponents in the Copa del Rey Round of 32, couldn't pass up the chance and proudly posted a photo of Olmo on Instagram on Saturday after "signing" him and placing him in their jersey. But it was all a harmless joke since Spain celebrates Dia de los Inocentes, which is the Spanish equivalent of April Fools' Day, on December 28.
The club president, Joan Laporta, has reportedly taken charge of the problem, and Olmo and Pau Victor's registrations for the second half of the 2024–2025 season are now being negotiated by the La Liga powerhouses. Reports suggest that club president Joan Laporta has arranged a contract to sell the rights to VIP seats at Camp Nou for the next 20 years for about 120 million euros.
