Barcelona has been desperately trying to guarantee that both Pau Victor and Dani Olmo would be enrolled for the second half of the 2024–25 season during the past several weeks. They would each be registering on Tuesday as things stand, but luckily for them and the Catalans, everything seems to have gone according to plan.
Barcelona's ongoing financial problems are the only reason Olmo's future is uncertain. The Euro 2024 winner joined for 60 million euros from RB Leipzig last summer, but initially couldn't be registered by strict La Liga salary limits until the club was able to offset Andreas Christensen's wages due to injury. Now that the Dane is healthy again, Barca will have to start over unless they can raise the required funds.
According to reports, Barcelona sold VIP boxes for the new Spotify Camp Nou in order to raise the money needed to register Olmo and Victor. La Liga is already aware that a Qatari business has agreed to buy for a total price of about 120 million euros.
Joan Laporta's tenure ending in 2026
The agreement has also been accepted by Barcelona's board of directors and is pending Laporta's approval. However, the club is currently trying to obtain a precautionary measure through the courts, so that won't happen until December 31st.
Joan Laporta's last year in office may be significantly impacted by the persistent issues regarding Olmo's registration, despite these achievements. As his tenure comes to an end in 2026, opposition leaders are starting to gather steam.
