Kylian Mbappe suffered a nose injury during their first game of the UEFA Euro 2024 against Austria. He was soon taken off the pitch as he was unable to continue the final 9 minutes of the game. The incident occurred from a free kick delivered by Antoine Griezmann during the 85th minute, and while heading the ball, his nose collided with Danso. He has been rumoured to miss the group-stage fixtures for France.
Amidst all the speculations of him missing the group-stage games, he appeared in the Les Blues training and was caught practicing separately from the team, with a mask on his face. The mask looks like a Ninja Turtle one as he has been often referred to as a fictional character by his teammates. As per the recent update, the 25-year-old winger does not need surgery right now, the medical team is keeping an eye on him to get him back with the team.
The mask Mbappe is wearing depicts the national flag of the country with the short form of his name embedded in the top right corner. But UEFA will not be allowing him to wear such a mask if he feels like appearing in the upcoming game against the Netherlands.
What mask will Mbappe wear?
As per the rule, any equipment must be certified by UEFA, thus Mbappe cannot take the field wearing a mask that does not comply with those criteria. The FFF will need to contact UEFA to clear any mask he decides to wear. The FFF has developed some masks, all of the same hue, that will comply with UEFA standards. The FFF was aware of the guidelines that must be followed before having the masks created. He also has many sizes available.
The question remains will Didier Deschamps risk his main man for the game against the Dutch as Ronald Koeman's side loves to play a bit of tough football and he will be up against Virgil Van Dijk who is one of the toughest and robust defenders of this generation. The challenge will be a big one for the footballer of how much he can put his best in the game.
