Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham recently shared that he is in the process of recovering from a shoulder injury sustained over a year ago.
Since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, Bellingham has established himself as an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti's squad. His outstanding performance during his debut season in Madrid helped the team secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles, and he continues to impress with his contributions in the current campaign.
Despite consistently featuring for the Spanish champions, the England international has confirmed that he is actively recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained in November 2023. Throughout this campaign, the 21-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions, during which he has scored seven goals and delivered six assists.
Bellingham gives injury updates
During a press conference on Tuesday, the English midfielder discussed his shoulder condition, highlighting the club's ongoing challenges with injuries this season.
"It’s okay, okay. I’m still in the sling, which is a little uncomfortable, but the overall feeling is pretty good." Bellingham said.
"The number of games. The staff is looking for solutions to see what we need, trying to manage this and doing it very well. But the load of minutes accumulates, causes fatigue, and that takes its toll." Bellingham added.
"There comes a point that affects performance, especially when you compete against strong rivals and you need speed. But it is what it is. We have to play a lot of games and we will try to do our best. In the summer we can rest a lot, but now we have games every three days," he added.
Looking ahead, the reigning Spanish and European champions are preparing to compete on Wednesday against Mexican club Pachuca in the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Bellingham narrowly missed out on two top accolades on Tuesday, finishing third in the rankings for the Best FIFA Men's Player award, which was rightfully claimed by his teammate Vinicius Junior. Determined to secure his place in the spotlight next year, he is set on making this season a resounding success.
