Jonathan Tah meets with Barcelona ahead of rumoured move next summer

According to reports, FC Barcelona spoke with the agency of Jonathan Tah, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen, with hopes of signing the German as a free agent this summer. In an effort to bolster their defense, FC Barcelona has shown a strong interest in acquiring Tah during the summer of 2025. Despite the success of rookie Pau Cubarsi and seasoned Inigo Martinez, Hansi Flick has had limited alternatives due to Ronald Araujo's injury, which forced him to deploy young players Sergi Dominguez and Andres Cuenca.

Jonathan Tah has also drawn attention from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich for a summer transfer, but according to Sky Germany, Barcelona seems to be the front-runner to capture the Germany international when his contract runs at the conclusion of the current campaign. 

According to Jijantes, Deco, Tah, as well as his agents met in a Leverkusen restaurant, and both parties left the meeting feeling rather pleased. Tah's agent, Zahavi, has a good relationship with the Barcelona government, which has facilitated the progress of the negotiations. He also speaks for Hansi Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona.

Tah will formally enter the final period of his Bayer Leverkusen contract at the beginning of 2025, at which point he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with another team in anticipation of a summer transfer. Tah has reportedly not yet made a final judgment on the issue, though.

The Leverkusen captain, who combines poise and toughness, has been an exceptional player for both club and nation. Additionally encouraging for a smooth transition into FC Barcelona's system is his acquaintance with Flick, who served as his coach while he was managing Germany's national team.

FC Barcelona supporters can have hope that the German defender will be able to wear the Blaugrana colors for the following season even though nothing is settled. He is a perfect fit for FC Barcelona's goals because of his background and knowledge with Hansi Flick's tactical requirements.
