In a controversial statement, Liverpool great Jamie Carragher hinted that Cole Palmer would quit Chelsea in a year if things don't get better at Stamford Bridge.

Since joining from Manchester City this past summer, the 22-year-old has unquestionably been the team's finest player. In his rookie season, he scored 25 goals, provided 15 assists, and was named PFA Young Player of the Year. But the Blues have failed to live up to his expectations; they have struggled in the English top flight and finished sixth in 2023–2024.

In light of this, Carragher has hinted that the Englishman may soon advocate for a transfer to Manchester United, a rival team. He recently discussed The Overlap and laid out his ideas. It dawned on Carragher as he was chatting on The Overlap that Palmer had once been a Manchester United fan. But he was never able to play for the Red Devils since he was signed by neighbours Manchester City at the under-eight level.

But given how unstable Chelsea is at the moment, it's easy to see the inventive midfield player pressing for a change in the future, particularly because Manchester United is in dire need of a new right winger. Carragher stated the following:

Jamie Carragher said, "Something's just come to me here, If Chelsea have another poor season, we were talking earlier about Man Utd having a real problem on that right wing. Palmer is a big United fan, isn't he? Would that not be something that United should visit maybe in 12 months if it doesn't go well? You know what, I think that could happen. Yeah, Cole Palmer to Manchester United."

Palmer just signed a new deal that will see him earn £60.8m over the course of the contract. Palmer is currently bound to Chelsea on an absurdly lengthy nine-year contract at £130k per week. In fact, after finishing sixth the previous season, the Englishman might demand a transfer if the Blues have another dismal campaign.
