England skipper Harry Kane excited to work alongside Thomas Tuchel

Following the Football Association's (FA) confirmation of Thomas Tuchel to be the new England manager, Harry Kane took to social media to express his excitement. The German manager has agreed to an initial 18-month deal and will be responsible for leading the Three Lions to success at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He worked previously with Harry Kane in the 2023–24 season at Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane, who scored 44 goals in 45 games when playing for Bayern Munich under Thomas Tuchel's direction, rushed to social media to share his joy at the reunion. He said, “Looking forward to playing under the boss again!”

Despite Harry Kane's enthusiastic response, not everyone is happy with the FA's choice. Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have expressed reservations over the national team's next foreign coach, following Fabio Capello and Sven-Goran Eriksson. But Kane, who worked with Tuchel directly, has a different perspective. 

When the media questioned Kane about the rumors before the official announcement of the job, the striker lavished the boss with admiration. He said, "I obviously know Thomas very well from last year. He's a fantastic coach and a fantastic person."

When will Thomas Tuchel start managing England?

After an unusual trophyless campaign at Allianz Arena, Thomas Tuchel's tenure at Bayern Munich ended in May 2024 due to an ongoing dispute with the club's board. The England skipper was reportedly part of an entourage of senior players that pushed for the head coach to stay at the club, according to some insiders, who also claim that Kane and the boss had an amazing relationship.

Thomas Tuchel will have plenty of time to get ready for the 2026 World Cup since he will formally take charge of the England men’s national team in January 2025. Lee Carsley will take over as interim manager in the interim and guide the senior team through their November UEFA Nations League games against Greece and Ireland.
