Arne Slot is maintaining a grounded perspective despite Liverpool's impressive start to the Premier League season. He emphasises the challenges that come with securing a league title. As of Christmas Day, Liverpool is in a strong position, sitting atop the league, four points ahead of second-placed Chelsea and with a game in hand.
Slot remains grounded amidst Liverpool's rise
Slot emphasises the importance of staying grounded for his players and Liverpool fans, asserting that a league table cannot be judged until the halfway stage.
"I have always said how difficult it was. You can see it now. The best way to judge the league table is after 19 games." Slot said.
"It is so hard to win a league everywhere around the world. It is so hard to win the league. You have to do so many things well. That is why so many teams and not many players are able to do so because it is so difficult," he added.
The Dutchman typically enjoys the festive season with family, but this year he will need to adapt to the hectic Christmas football schedule.
"Yeah. If I said no, it would probably be strange as well. There are obvious reasons why we kept the children and my wife in Holland, as they are in the last year of their school. They have to do their exams, so for us, it was not the ideal moment to bring them towards England. But in the ideal world, you are the manager of Liverpool and still have your family around you," he added.
Looking ahead to 2025, Slot has set his sights on winning a trophy, with hopes that key players like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will play a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
As all three players are out of contract this summer, they will be eligible to communicate with clubs outside the Premier League starting January 1. However, Slot continues to focus on the present and has chosen not to engage in speculation regarding their futures.
