Arne Slot wants Ange Postecoglou to win trophy with Tottenham Hotspurs

Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, expressed his desire that Ange Postecoglou, his Tottenham rival, will receive a trophy for his aggressive style of play. Spurs are now in 10th place in the Premier League following a patchy season. Despite criticism of his team's tactics, Postecoglou recently stated that "in tough times you double down on your principles." 

Arne Slot leads his team to play the London club on Sunday. Prior to staying at Feyenoord, he was strongly linked to becoming the manager of Tottenham in 2023. Tottenham advanced from the Carabao Cup semi-finals after a thrilling 4-3 victory against Manchester United, while Liverpool has also been drawn against Spurs.

"It's great work that Ange is doing. I hope, hope, hope that he (Postecoglou) wins a trophy - not the League Cup but I am completely a fan of his team for the Europa League," said Slot. "People talk about trophies, trophies, trophies and that is so important. For me, his brand of football is so much more important.”

Liverpool leading the Premier League table

Although he supports Ange Postecoglou and his squad, Arne Slot stated that he would love to see Spurs, who now sit tenth in the rankings, win the Europa League. After seven wins and seven losses in their 16 Premier League games, Tottenham is only one goal behind Chelsea as the second-highest goal scorer in the league this season with 36 goals.

Despite his obvious admiration for Postecoglou's strategies, Slot made it apparent in a hilarious way that he did not want Tottenham's victory to come at Liverpool's expense in the Carabao Cup after the two teams were matched together in the semi-finals. The Reds are six points ahead of Arsenal and two points ahead of Chelsea after 15 games. They have one game left over both teams after Storm Darragh forced the postponement of their match at Everton.
