With contracts for Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah, and Virgil van Dijk set to expire on June 30, Liverpool is focused on securing new agreements with these key players. Successfully doing so will not only strengthen the squad but also prevent the trio from engaging in discussions with foreign clubs starting January 1.

Real Madrid to tussle against arch-rivals for signing Arnold

The situation with Alexander-Arnold is particularly concerning, as he is a homegrown talent who is just 26 years old and still has his prime years ahead of him. Consequently, Liverpool would face a significant loss, potentially forfeiting an £80-100 million transfer fee if the right-back were to leave Anfield without a transfer.

Barcelona is monitoring Alexander-Arnold's situation; however, it is their La Liga rivals, Real Madrid, who currently appear to be at the forefront of the race. CaughtOffside has provided an update regarding this ongoing transfer saga.

Madrid is firmly determined to secure Alexander-Arnold, having already extended a contract offer to him. The proposed deal spans four years, with the potential for a fifth, mirroring Liverpool's offer. Importantly, Madrid believes that Alexander-Arnold is attracted to the prospect of playing at the Bernabeu and sharing the field with his close friend Jude Bellingham.

The report confirms that Madrid has taken decisive steps to engage with AC Milan's Theo Hernandez, who is linked with Manchester United. They pursuing Hernandez as their preferred choice for a new left-back, especially as their top target, Alphonso Davies, appears set to extend his contract with Bayern Munich.

On Wednesday, reports emerged suggesting that Liverpool has presented Alexander-Arnold with a contract offer valued at approximately £310,000 per week. However, some sources indicate that Alexander-Arnold seeks to be compensated at the same level as Salah, reflecting his importance as one of the team's key players. Consequently, Liverpool may need to enhance their offer to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
