Italy surprised everyone early during the UEFA Nations League by defeating France 3-1, their first victory in Paris in 70 years. Bradley Barcola, having taken Giovanni Di Lorenzo well in his own half, opened the scoring for the hosts in only 12 seconds with a powerful shot.

Soon after the half-hour mark, Federico Dimarco's exquisite volley struck from within the penalty area gave the Azzurri a chance to regroup and even the score. Five minutes after the half, Davide Frattesi completed the comeback he had initiated, and Luciano Spalletti's team startled the Parc des Princes. Les Bleus's situation was made worse when Giacomo Raspadori grasp upon a Destiny Udogie ball and blast the ball past Mike Maignan, his Serie A opponent.

Belgium start UEFA Nations League with convincing 3-1 win

Belgium defeated Israel 3-1 to start their UEFA Nations League quest with ease. After being set up by Jérémy Doku's cutback for Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne snapped the deadlock by firing an instinctive shot into the top corner of the net. Within fifteen minutes, Timothy Castagne's header towards his own net deflected by Anan Khalaily's header proved to be the undoing of the Red Devils.

However, they re-established their superiority in the second half, first through a first-time shot from Youri Tielemans after Loïs Openda set him up. Just four minutes later, De Bruyne scored a penalty kick after Openda had been brought down inside the penalty box to give Belgium a two-goal lead.

Wales draw during Craig Bellamy’s first game as manager

Following a hard-fought 0-0 home tie with Turkey, Craig Bellamy's term as Wales' manager began with a point. Halfway through the second half, Barış Yılmaz collected his second caution of the match, bringing the visiting team down to ten men.

In Bellamy's maiden game in-charge at Cardiff City Stadium, the Dragons were unsuccessful to produce a winner despite their man advantage. The former Manchester City player would be disappointed to not see his side not get the three points against Turkey.
