INEOS CHIEF- Jim Ratcliffe
Jamie O’Hara has expressed his concerns regarding Sir Jim Ratcliffe's management, describing Manchester United as having stagnated since he became a minority owner.
The INEOS chief took control of Red Devils sporting operations in February after securing a 27.7 percent stake in the club. United fans, who have consistently voiced their frustration over the Glazer family's management, were thrilled by Ratcliffe’s arrival.
INEOS Chief inefficient at his Work
Former Premier League player O’Hara, known for his time at Tottenham, has expressed concerns about Ratcliffe's approach to managing costs at Old Trafford. He has highlighted the impact of recent staff reductions and questioned Ratcliffe's choice to reach out to Manchester City for assistance with private jet arrangements for the Ballon d’Or. O’Hara's comments suggest that a more thoughtful strategy might be beneficial for the club's future.
"What is he doing?" O’Hara said on talkSPORT.
"He’s a disgrace, Ratcliffe. He came in, gave it the big spuds, he’s this billionaire and he’s gonna do this and do that… he’s been a joke!" he said.
"All he’s done is get rid of 200 people, they’ve got to bring their own food in now, now he’s trying to penny pinch on a jet for his Ballon d’Or nominees. Come on mate. Give us a rest, will you? Don’t tell me you’re a billionaire and you’re going to do this and that. It’s a massive loserville, that one." he added.
In July, it was announced that United plans to streamline operations by cutting 250 jobs, focusing on reducing costs and eliminating certain non-essential tasks.
Under Ratcliffe’s leadership, the team is in a challenging phase, having started the 2024-25 season with just three wins in their first eight Premier League matches. This situation presents an opportunity for Erik ten Hag and his squad to reassess strategies and work towards improvement on the pitch.
INEOS's 'Managerial Crisis'
Ineos explored various options for a new manager during the summer, holding interviews with several candidates, including Thomas Tuchel, who came close to taking the helm at United. Nevertheless, the newly-appointed leadership ultimately decided to continue with Ten Hag, rewarding him with a one-year contract extension. Despite this commitment, the team’s challenging start to the season has led some to reflect on the decision, suggesting that perhaps there were missed opportunities for change over the summer.
Ineos has opted to retain Ten Hag despite facing two opportunities to part ways, but the recent defeat to West Ham has intensified the discussion around his future. As the international break approaches, the United hierarchy is confronted with a significant decision. It’s crucial that they carefully weigh their options, as any misstep could impact fan sentiment.
