India is grouped alongside Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam in Group C in the AFC Women's Asia Cup 2026, whose final draw took place in Sydney. The Group A features hosts Australia, Iran, Korea Republic, and Philippines. In the Group B, the defending champions China are placed alongside DPR Korea, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh.

12 teams in the tournament will try to win from the 1st to the 21st of March, 2026, in Australia. India is the lowest ranked team in its group with a ranking of 70 in the world. The group has Japan, the highest ranked Asian team and the 2011 Women's World Cup winners, who will be one of the favorites to win the title.

In 2014 and 2018, Japan won the AFC Women's Asian Cup and nearly completed a hat-trick before China won the title in 2022. Additionally, India is grouped alongside Vietnam and Chinese Taipei, who are ranked 37th and 42nd in the FIFA World rankings, respectively. India had hosted the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 during the pandemic.

India's campaign will start with the match against Vietnam on the 4th of March 2026 at the Perth Rectangular Stadium. They will then face their toughest challenge on the 7th of March ahainst Japan at the same venue. On the 10th of March, the Indian Tigresses will be up against Chinese Taipei at the Western Sydney Stadium.

The top two teams from each group will get a direct pass to the Quarterfinals, while two other best third-placed teams will also qualify for the Knockouts.
