Cristiano Ronaldo acknowledged the challenge of reaching his ambitious goal of 1,000 career goals, recognizing that his focus has shifted as he approached a pivotal stage in his career.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to perform at a high level for both Portugal and Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. However, as he prepares to turn 40 in February 2025, he is reflective about the future, understanding that many players retire well before this age. Despite his age, Ronaldo is focused on giving the most of his time on the pitch.
Cristiano's take on scoring 1000 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo is focused on enjoying each moment as he continues his passionate pursuit of the sport he loves. While he has acknowledged impressive milestones, such as his recent achievement of 900 goals, he now embraces a more present-minded approach to his game. He recognizes the importance of taking it one day at a time and evaluating how his body responds as he progresses over the next few years. If he ultimately reaches the milestone of 1,000 goals, that would be a wonderful achievement, but for now, his priority is to savor the experience and challenges of each match.
“I now face my life as living in the moment. I can't think long-term anymore. I said publicly that I wanted to reach 1,000 goals, but it seems that now everything is easy, just last month I reached 900. It's about living in the moment, seeing how my legs will respond in the next few years. If I reach 1,000 goals, that's fine, but if I don't, I'm already the player with the most goals in history.” Ronaldo explained.
Ronaldo received Portugal's highest sporting award
Cristiano Ronaldo confidently addressed an awards ceremony where he received the highest honour bestowed upon Portuguese players. Fernando Gomes, the president of the FPF, declared that the Platinum Quinas is the most prestigious trophy, and there is no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is the ultimate ambassador for Portugal who truly deserves this recognition.
With 216 caps under his belt, Cristiano Ronaldo has his sights on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a trophy that has eluded him for years.
