Kylian Mbappe proved his worth in Real Madrid's 4-2 victory against Sevilla on Sunday, helping the team secure second place in La Liga, just ahead of their rivals Barcelona. The win came on the heels of Atletico Madrid's success over Barcelona, allowing them to take the top spot as the league approaches the Christmas break.
Real Madrid now sits just one point behind their city rivals. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had previously noted that Mbappe had fully settled in following his summer transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. The French forward took alike of his statement with a standout performance, scoring his 14th goal of the season across all competitions.
Fede Valverde also delivered a stunning long-range screamer. The home team benefited from contributions by Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz, with Diaz finding the net thanks to a clever assist from Mbappe.
Mbappe's return from a minor thigh injury was a promising development for the Galacticos, particularly following his contributions in the Intercontinental Cup mid-week. His goals in the last consecutive match, along with his assists, reflect his return to form.
Mbappe wishes to make 2025 his best year
“We can see on the pitch that I click better with my teammates and now we're all playing better. I know I've got much more in my legs than I'm showing, but in the last games I've played better,” Mbappe said.
“The Bilbao game was good for me, I hit the bottom, I missed a penalty and it was a moment to realise that I have to give everything for this shirt and show my personality.” He added.
"I know I can do much more, I’ve the abilities to do it. I will do my best in 2025”. Mbappe asseted.
